Ling Yu Centre for Medical Statistics

Our centre offers comprehensive statistical consulting and education services. Although statistics and epidemiology are part of the medical curriculum, these courses often do not fully prepare individuals for professional exams or research, underscoring the need for consultation with statisticians. Most statisticians lack medical training, which means significant explanation of medical concepts is often required to ensure appropriate methodological choices.

Our statisticians hold both medical and statistical qualifications, enabling us to provide more effective and relevant consultation services.

Medical journals, both local and international, often contain technical and conceptual statistical errors. These mistakes can undermine research credibility and, in severe cases, affect patient care. Our centre provides statistical expertise to journals worldwide to help maintain the quality of medical research.

We also offer introductory, practical statistics courses for health professionals to support exam preparation and research activities.
