WONG KAI CHOI
Medical Statistician
Mr Wong graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and became a specialist in psychiatry in 2007. He earned a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Mathematics with First Class Honours from the Open University of Hong Kong in 2005, and completed the Hong Kong Statistical Society's professional examinations in two years, achieving top results among candidates from Hong Kong and the UK. In 2006, he received a Master of Education from the Open University of Hong Kong and passed the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine's exit examinations, focusing on "Mathematical Modelling of Serum Lithium Level." He obtained a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Economics from the Open University of Hong Kong in 2015. In addition to his clinical work, Mr Wong is active in psychiatric research and statistics education. From 2010 to 2018, he served as a tutor and course developer at the Open University of Hong Kong. Since 2021, he has held honorary academic appointments at both the University of Hong Kong and CUHK. In 2024, he was elected a member (MIMA) of the Institution of Mathematics and its Applications (IMA). In 2025, he became a Certified Statistician (CertStat) of the Hong Kong Statistical Society (HKSS), a Chartered Statistician (CStat) of the Royal Statistical Society (RSS), an Accredited Professional Statistician (PStat) of the American Statistical Association (ASA), and an Accredited Statistician (AStat) of the Statistical Society of Australia (SSA).
